Where Do You Find Your Freedom?

“The POWER or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint… the state of not being ‘imprisoned’ or ‘enslaved.

‘”When do I feel most powerful? When do I feel most liberated? If I think back to the time of my mental imprisonment, it was the moments I spent writing in my notebooks. Writing is my freedom.

It’s where I feel empowered because words have always come so easy to me when my hand is doing the talking. Ever since I was a little girl, writing had always been my thing. My safe haven. Without it, I’d be lost. For a long time, I truly believed it was the only thing I could depend on to keep me sane.

But I’ve realized throughout the years that if writing didn’t exist for me, although it would be extremely difficult, I have other means to escape. I have those solitary moments where my body and mind are completely at peace. Where life dissolves for that mere second in time and it’s just me.

The secret of happiness is freedom, the secret of freedom is courage

I’ve also found it in my conversations with God. The moment I bare my soul in front of Him with total comfort in knowing that I’m being heard, sets my whole being into a blissful state where I can’t be touched. Life can’t touch me, even when I’m talking about my struggles. My freedom is found in these three states.

Life can’t touch me

Whatever yours may be, don’t ever let anyone taint it. The only rule is that it has to be healthy and beneficial to you. Does that escape help you grow? Does it keep your from doing something you shouldn’t be doing? Is it the best alternative? Do you feel alive and weight lifted off your shoulders?

We all know life has many restrictions. Hell, we constantly have people putting restrictions on us, including ourselves. What’s wrong with finding your means of escape? Be it a person, place, or thing. Be it a routine or a single moment, why not protect this which is yours? It’s your freedom. To feel liberated is one of the best things in the world. Don’t ever let that go.
