It’s important to find ways to clear your mind. I recently starting using a gift that a friend gave me that has to do with meditation. I’ve never tried yoga or meditation but it has always fascinated me because the idea of training your mind to limit your thoughts for a moment and just focus on your breathing and the physical presence of your body is something we should do consistently.

You’d think with all the weight we carry from our every day lives we would want to seek this sort of relief. The good thing is there are multiple ways people can quiet their minds for a little while so it doesn’t necessarily have to be meditation. By seeking a way to be still and forcing yourself to slow down, not only does it give you the opportunity to take a breath, but it allows you to change perspective.

Lord knows, sometimes a change in perspective is exactly what we need. Everyday we’re bombarded with all these emotions and triggers that sometimes become a little too overwhelming to handle all at once. I believe that is the moment you realize you’ve been too selfless for your own good. We must take the time to rest in all senses of the word: physically, emotionally, mentally.

Make time for rest or your body will force you to slow down in ways you probably won’t like.

There’s no selfishness in taking care of your well-being. You can’t expect to function at full capacity when the parts that make you whole are only half available. They need to be nourished and remedied with your form of TLC. For the most part, we want to be able to prove that we can handle all things, including the internal struggles that have our mind working overtime.

But the reality is that we’re only human. We get tired and frustrated and beat by the workload and burdens we face the minute we wake up. That’s why it’s so important to accept our flawed persona (flawed meaning we’re not perfect nor superhuman). Unloading ourselves from it all is the key to preparing our mind and body for what will come in the future.

There’s no selfishness in taking care of your well-being

By doing so, it makes life easier to bare because you’re choosing to put yourself first. You’re choosing to train yourself and become better equipped for such matters because it’ll always be a part of your life. However, it shouldn’t be the one that has the most control. That should be YOU.
